Our First Guest for Nov. 4th

Louis "Butch" Meyer III

The grandson of three-time Indianapolis 500 winner ('28, '33, '36) Louis Meyer and the son of legendary engine builder Louis "Sonny" Meyer Jr., began his career in Indy-style racing in 1965 working for his father at Louis Meyer, Inc.  He worked on the double-overhead cam Ford engine that was one of the most successful engines in the late 60s and early 70s and powered Mario Andretti to victory in the 1969 Indianapolis 500.

After 6 years as Technical Director for the Firestone Indy Lights Series and being pleased with the growth Butch decided now is the time to get back into competition and get his hands dirty again.

Butch has teamed up the Jim Guthrie to form Guthrie/Meyer Racing and plan to field 4 cars in the Indy Lights Series for the 2009 season.

Our Second Scheduled Guest

Greg Beck
(center)

Greg had been looking for a stable platform to compete in the IndyCar Series full time for quite some time.  The veteran team owner found it with the assistance of a marketing veteran and a veteran professional driver who know how to market.

The result is the formation of Team 3G (three guys), which formally announced Sept. 26 at Kansas Speedway its intention to compete in the IndyCar Series full time in 2009 with Stanton Barrett behind the wheel of the No. 98 Curb/Agajanian/Team 3G entry. Why Kansas Speedway?  It’s where Barrett was driving in the Nationwide Series event this weekend.

"I am thrilled to be joining Team 3G and the IndyCar Series in 2009,” said Barrett, who has competed in NASCAR Sprint Cup and Nationwide series for the past 15 years. “I feel the time is right to move to the IndyCar Series. They have a lot of momentum, and I think they will continue to grow in popularity with fans and corporate marketers.”

Marketing partners for the team Include Interush.net, Phytter Phone, Curb Records, and Grandstay.net, with additional partnerships to be announced.

Greg has always put a good car on track and his record shows that. In qualifying for 37 IndyCar races he has 12 top 10's with 4 top 5's and a best finish of 2nd. He has 1 pole, qualified for 12 Indy 500's, finished 3rd in points in 1996 and 4th in points in 2001. Much of Beck Motorsports success was with driver Billy Boat driving full time in the 2001 and 2002 seasons.
